TY (Transition Year) students at St Fintan’s High School Sutton recently took part in an exciting hands-on workshop introducing them to the world of AI and creative digital skills.

Learning to Prompt and Research with AI

Students began by exploring how to prompt AI correctly—writing clear instructions, refining prompts, and understanding how AI interprets information. They also used AI tools to conduct deep research, learning how to gather reliable insights and summarise complex topics.

Building a Website from Scratch

Next, students applied their research by learning the basics of website building. They planned content, explored simple coding, and used AI to support design ideas. By the end, each student had created the foundations of their own website.

From Drawing to Digital Image

To finish, students sketched original ideas and used AI image generation to transform their drawings into digital visuals—showing how creativity and technology can work together.

A Future-Focused TY Experience

This workshop gave TY students in Ireland a practical introduction to AI, digital creativity, and essential tech skills. It was a fun, engaging way to prepare for the future while making Transition Year more meaningful.
